Ring Ring, It's 2017!

(beep)

good'ay from down under future anna, and happy 2017!!! I am currently in Australia, and so far I have been having the best time ever, even if i have felt a little home sick at times. I am currently 11 hours in the future which means when this message is left, nearly everyone i know won't even have celebrated new years yet. Wierd.

To celebrate the new year last night, my uncle got me a ticket to Luna park, so that I could experience the Sydney fireworks from inside of one of the most famous theme parks! it was INCREDIBLE, and an amazing way to say tah tah to 2016, and hola to 2017!

Here I am going to list my current goals for the year, let me know if you manage to achieve them all future anna! These aren't really resolutions, just things I would like to complete before 2018!
  1. Create 2 new films. I have some ideas and would love to create something over summer, and something else nearer winter. If I do more, that would be great, but this is how I want to challenge myself to get on with creating and not letting anything stop me!!
  2. Learn to play the ukulele. wait, is that how you spell it? well no red line has come up underneath, so it must be. Anyway, I bought a ukulele early 2016, hoping to learn it. it has sat in the corner of my room since. hopefully 2017 is the year I drop everything and release a number one ukulele album. hahah, maybe!
  3. Go on holiday with my sister. I think this is a lovely idea, and as she is 17 in like 15 days, it would be nice to do something before we never get the chance again! Maybe a weekend in Llandudno, London, Edinburgh, or someplace else! oohhh, I really hope this happens!!
  4. Learn every word to 'car radio' by Twenty One Pilots. I love this song, but the rap never seems to go right when I sing it! maybe if I wish really hard, the lyrics will just flow out of my mouth like they do with Tyler Joseph.
  5. Enter 'The Best Days' in the Raindance film festival! I am so proud of the film and everyone in it, that I want to enter it! I don't mind if we're not nominated, it's just an exciting opportunity and imagine if someone famous saw the film!?!??!!? ahhhhh!!!! I wonder what happened future anna?
  6. be more happy. I felt so unhappy when I moved to my new house. I have improved, but I want to be fully happy here, for me, and for my family! It's a work in progress, but IT WILL HAPPEN!!!
  7. Pass my driving test!! It has been a complete rollercoaster trying to learn how to drive, but hopefully all the stress and time will be worth it! who knows, maybe I will drive myself and my sister to our little trip! hopefully you can drive future anna!

That is all I can think of right now, but I hope when you are reading this future anna, it is 2018, and you completed everything you wanted for the year 2017. hopefully there are many more memes and exciting oppurtunities! HAPPY NEW YEAR!! see you around future anna!

What about you future anna?

(beep)

hello future anna! I don't really plan the messages i'm gonna leave you but I thought that I would either talk about Christmassy things or Australia things seeing as those are close, but I don't feel Christmassy yet, and there isn't anything major to mention about my trip to Aus. So... I saw these questions on Tumblr, and thought that I could answer them, and then you can do it again future anna to see how my answers change. Ok, and here we goooooooo:

0: Height - 5ft 3. I think. But i'm small compared to everyone else I know.
1: Age - 18. OH GOSH I'M AN ADULT HELP SOS I'M GONNA BE 19 NEXT OH DEARY ME.
2: Shoe size - 4. Yes, I have small feet.
3: Do you smoke? - Nah. I find smoke magical so I have done some photography with it, however my mum used to smoke so if I ever did it she would probably kill me.
4: Do you drink? - I like fruit juice and appletiser. I don't really like "drink".
5: Do you take drugs? - illegal? no. Tablets for illness? I can't swallow them because I just can't. Calpol? HELL YEAH THAT'S THE GOOD STUFF WHEN YOU'RE ILL!!
6: Age you get mistaken for - I get mistaken for being aged between 9-13. yayayayayayayay if you want to buy a child's ticket. but i'm sure it will be great when i'm 40 and look 21.
7: Have tattoos? - nope! I think I would like 2, but I don't really know.
8: Want any tattoos? - umm... excuse me, I have just answered that!!
9: Got any piercings? - I have both my ears pierced once but I don't really wear earrings that often.
10: Want any piercings? - I used to want a few more ear piercings to be cool and edgy but I can't be bothered anymore.
11: Best friend? - I have a few. cheers ladddsss u know who u areeeee xoxo
12: Relationship status - ew relationships. I recently discovered that I am asexual, so most relationship things freak me out, but if I met someone who was chill with me, like I would be with them, we could eat cake and other foods, and do cool things. and if we ever live together we can have a doggo. or two. who knows the future? I don't, but i'm sure you do future anna, ayyyy!
13: Biggest turn ons - makes me laugh. sends me funny pictures of memes or animals. wants to follow their dreams.
14: Biggest turn offs - smells not good. doesn't respect my opinions. isn't open to going on adventures or to concerts.
15: Favorite movie - I have lots of favourites, but I love: saving mr banks, moonrise kingdom, lock stock and two smoking barrels, and the falling.
16: I’ll love you if... - we make a handshake together. how cool is that?!?!?
17: Someone you miss - Nicole. there I said it. she was my best friend through primary school and high school. she moved away and we stopped talking. we have both changed and I wish we could talk again. gosh, so emotional.
18: Most traumatic experience - after we moved house, I got a bit depressed. I hadn't gone past the old house in about a month, when I had to go past to be picked up by my mum. I couldn't walk down the road and started having a panic attack. it was one of the worst things that have happened to me. I haven't gone down that road since and I don't think I ever could again. that's very sad.
19: A fact about your personality - I am a gemini which apparently means I have 2 conflicting personalities. completely agree. if I saw a child, I would be thinking "awww" and "oh gosh you are so gross please stop and leave" at the same time. weird example but there ya go.
20: What I hate most about myself - I cry at stupid things. I like to think i'm quite a cut-throat person and I won't deal with rubbish that people throw at me, but I could randomly explode with tears about anything. oh gosh I need to sort myself out. are you still like this future anna?
21: What I love most about myself - I stand up for what I believe is right. if someone is being mean to someone else, I will step in and stop it. very proud of myself for being like this. I also like that i'm ginger.
22: What I want to be when I get older - a film maker who can make money from the films I make. I don't want to be a millionaire, I just need enough to survive and maybe a little bit more. I would also love to be an aunty. I don't want kids, but I would love for at least Emma (my sister) to have one child so I can be an aunty, and she has always wanted a child so that would be nice.
23: My relationship with my sibling(s) - pretty close to my siblings. I want to kill them but I get them nice Christmas/birthday presents so I guess that makes up for it.
24: My relationship with my parent(s) - same with my siblings. we are a pretty close family and I feel I could talk to my parents about anything.
25: My idea of a perfect date - I don't know. maybe a funfair or theme park. OH MY GOSH WE CAN GO ON RIDES AND EAT DONUTS AND CANDYFLOSS AND LOOK AT THE STUPID PICTURES THEY TAKE ON THE RIDES. yep, a theme park. decided.
26: My biggest pet peeves - eating with mouths open. ew gross no, and it makes squelchy sounds *shivers*
27: A description of the girl/boy I like - oh gosh why are most of these questions about love and stuff?!?! the person I like is taller than me and doesn't have ginger hair. SURPRISE IT'S DAVID TENNANT AS DOCTOR WHO. NAH I WAS JOKING IT'S DAN SMITH FROM BASTILLE!! surprise... no it's not, it's someone else... do you still like them future anna? or are you together together?? are they even still alive? oh gosh I hope so.
28: A description of the person I dislike the most - I don't really know who I dislike. oh gosh. I know. they smell and called me fat. enough said.
29: A reason I’ve lied to a friend - to surprise them with a cast-signed present after they directed a show. she thought I hated her for a week well I avoided her to get the posted signed. haha!
30: What I hate the most about work/school - I feel non-creative.
31: What my last text message says - is this the last one I sent or received? well the last text I sent was me telling my mum that I had done all the stuff she had asked me to do (washing up, etc). the last text I received was her saying thanks.
32: What words upset me the most - MUDBLOOD!!! oh gosh it is so sad when Hermione is being tortured by Bellatrix. (I say 'oh gosh' too much)
33: What words make me feel the best about myself - when people say they really like my ideas. even stupid ideas, it makes me feel gr8.
34: What I find attractive in women - women who are strong but still have feelings and aren't afraid to speak their mind to do the right thing. and they know how to plait hair.
35: What I find attractive in men - the same as women. including the hair plaiting.
36: Where I would like to live - in Edinburgh. but that will probably never happen, but somewhere pretty where I can have a doggo and plants.
37: One of my insecurities - my shoulders and upper arms. that sounds so odd but I don't like the way they look, so yeah.
38: My childhood career choice - the first person to live on mars. I had a shoebox decorated how my house was gonna look. I then changed my mind to a chef and numerous other things before I decided on film maker.
39: My favorite ice cream flavour - I like strawberry, mint choc chip, and cookie dough. but not all together. actually... that might be nice altogether.
40: Who I wish I could be - MAISIE WILLIAMS PLEASE
41: Where I want to be right now - in a cool café in a cool place with a cool person.
42: The last thing I ate - a veggie burger and chips. it was my lunch and it was very tasty.
43: Sexiest person that comes to my mind immediately - i don't know. sexy is an odd word to me.
44: A random fact about anything - Norway once knighted a penguin.

well that was quite a few questions. there were at least 3. i wonder what your answers will be future anna? i look forward to hearing about it! bye for now xoxo

The Importance of Being on the Phone

(beep)

ay up future anna. THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST IS DONE AND IT WENT SO SO SO SO WELL!!! WOOOOO!! Ok, sorry for screaming at you down the phone.

Between Wednesday 23rd November, and Saturday 26th November, a drama group that I am part of performed 'The importance of being Earnest' by Oscar Wilde. I had so much fun heloung to direct the show and the final week was so much fun. I will include some memories here for you to look back on future anna:

MONDAY!

So on Monday 21st November, it was the tech rehearsal in the evening. However, in the day I met up with Rach and Beth (I hope when you are reading this in the future, future anna, you are still besties with them both because they are both so amazing!!) and Hanley to do shopping, eating and watching of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! It was such a fun day and I was able to get some more buts for Australia and HAIR BOBBLES BECAUSE I WAS LIVING OFF 2 AND IF THEY BROKE THE WHOLE WORLD WOULD HAVE COLLAPSED BUT YOU MANAGED TO GET THEM SO chill.

The film was really good, and we had baskin robins ice cream in the cinema which was really tasty!! HOWEVER, the only thing I didn't like about the film was how they force a relationship on Newt and the brown haired lady at the end. THEY HAD NO CHEMISTRY SO WHY DO THAT?!?!?! never mind, ay. at least i'll never do that if i'm writing anything.

we were having such a fab day until we realised it was 5:30pm and we had to be at the tech rehearsal at 6. oops. it would have been quite close, but we could have managed to make it on the bus, however Rach had to go to her house to grab some props. we got the bus to Rach's house, picked up her stuff, and then Beth's dad drove us to the rehearsal. we were an hour late. it was fine....

The tech went really well and everything got sorted (I think. I didn't do tech stuff so i'm guessing it went smoothly). then I went home and went to sleep,

TUESDAY!

Tuesday 22nd November was the day of the dress rehearsal, and also the day we would film the play. James had asked me to do shots of it which I was fine with and I was pretty excited. I took my camera, tripod, microphone, and 3 batteries with me.

all was fine until we forgot which tripod was mine in the mass that James bought with him. We got all that sorted in the end.

Then came the oncoming storm. I previously (about 3 lines up) mentioned that I had taken 3 camera batteries with me. This was fine UNTIL I FOUND OUT THEY ALL HAD NO BATTERY!! I felt so stressed and had to run between the camera, charger, and microphone to make sure everything was running smoothly. It all worked out fine in the end AND WE WERE READY FOR THE SHOW TO START THE NEXT DAY!! WOOOO!!

WEDNESDAY!

so I wasn't even meant to be going to the show today. On Wednesday 23rd November, I was meant to be seeing Melanie Martinez in Manchester and this had been planned for weeks and everyone knew I couldn't do the first night. However the show had been cancelled as Melanie was too ill to sing. (here is a cheeky blog post about it: http://annasnothere.blogspot.co.uk/2016/11/play-phone.html)

However, I had told James the night before that I could help out now because obviously I had nothing else to do. It was so much fun and even though I would've loved to have seen Mel perform, I was so happy I could be there for the first night!

THURSDAY!

Today I was working until 4ish, so as soon as I had finished, I ran (well not ran because I live on a country road which could be dangerous, I hope you are still staying safe one the road future anna, or have you moved out yet???) back to my house, ate, changed, and jumped in the car to get to the second show night!! Again, so much fun was had and the show was great! It was a bit of an odd audience because they were laughing at odd bits, but at least they did laugh, at future anna?! hahah!

FRIDAY!

Third show night!!! Tonight my parents came to the show so it was super excited to hear their feedback. They had never seen/read the play before, and only knew the famous lines, so it was really great to see how they understood what was happening with all the characters and enjoyed the show!! It always makes me really happy when my family and friends want to see that shows that I am apart of!

SATURDAY!

Today I had work again, so after finishing, I got home, ate, changed, and jumped in the car to get to the show! It was the final night so I was so so so excited because this was the last time we would be able to do the show all together. Also, my granny and grandad were coming to see the show that night so I really wanted them to like it, as I had stayed over at their house a lot over the rehearsal process. THEY LOVED THE SHOW and everything went amazingly well!

To top it off, it was Richard's birthday (he played Jack/Earnest) so after the show we went to a local indian food place to eat and drink and celebrate! I am not a big indian food eater, so I chose some sides to make up my meal. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY FINE APART FROM THE WAITER!!! ok, ok, ok.... the waiter came to the table and asked each of us individually what we wanted. there were 12 of us in total, and I was either the 3rd of 4th person he asked. He asked what I wanted to eat, so I said:

"The sag aloo side dish, the pilau rice, and a plain naan please."

He then stopped me and said "no, no, wait there i'm not doing sides yet. Do you want the sag aloo meal?"

Me and Richard's girlfriend Ruth (she is very lovely and this was the first time I had met her, I wonder if you have ever seen her again future anna?) were just looking at each other and laughing. I told the waiter that I wanted it as a side. He was so confused. I explained that I was only little so a side meal, a side of rice, and a naan, would be fine with me. He still didn't really understand, but I got what I wanted and nearly ate it all. It was the first time I had sag aloo (have you had it since future anna??) so it was really delicious with the rice, HOWEVER THE NAAN WAS BIGGER THAN ME!! It was hugeeee, and it was so tasty that when I think back, I feel so sad that I couldn't squeeze it all in! The meal was so lovely, and was topped off with the crazy 70s music videos that were playing in the background (gosh, they were so awkward and me and ruth couldn't stop laughing).

I got back to granny and grandad's house abut 12:45, and went straight to sleep!!

SUNDAY!

so living on about 7 hours sleep (it felt less than that on the day), I went back to the place we had done the show at for about 9am to start taking down the staging and all the tech stuff. it took about 3 hours to do, and to end it, we went to a really nice pub a few minutes away for lunch! I couldn't decide between a child's meal of pizza, beans, and chips, or a posh pub sandwich of halloumi and chips. I love pizza, but I hardly ever get to have halloumi, so I had that. it was very tasty and well worth it! It was a lovely way to top off the show week and say goodbye to everyone!

After this, as usual future anna, I helped my dad with the local Christmas light switch on with a stall that he has. very successful, but very tiring. Do you still help with the switch on future anna?

AND THE WEEK WAS OVER!!! oh gosh I am tomska.

such a fun time, and as I am writing all this up to post, it is December and nearly time for my film to be released, for Christmas, and then AUSTRALIA!!! how exciting. SEE YOU LAST WEEK future anna xoxo

Play Phone

(beep)

ok. this title would fit in nicely with melanie Martinez's crybaby album track list. that is all, the voice message may continue.

the photo on the left is from my Instagram a few weeks ago when the tickets arrived. I didn't take the photo on the left, I found it on google and hope who took it doesn't mind me using it :)
hi future anna. something was meant to happen on Wednesday 23rd November 2016. I was meant to go to Manchester on the train, meet my bae Nikki, and then see MY PRINCESS MELANIE MARTINEZ PERFORM!! I was so so so so excited! I love her music so much, I feel her aesthetic and music style is so new and fresh, yet everyone can relate to it. I love it, and her.

I had a suspicion that the show would be cancelled, as 2 days before, she was meant to be performing in Paris, but had to cancel because she was ill. The show I was meant to be going to was cancelled the day before, so I guess that's a good thing. At least I wasn't stranded in a city late at night.

The reason I have chosen to talk about this, is because I have seen so many mean comments on twitter, Instagram and facebook, towards melanie, saying how she owes it to them to perform, and she would be nothing without her fans.

WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. WOAH.

I agree in some ways, because ANY celebrity or singer would be nobody without fans. But that doesn't mean that they shouldn't put their health and life before anyone else.

The reason Melanie cancelled was because she couldn't physically sing. Her voice was hurting her so much. So many people who went to the London show said that they tried to sing every word with her so she didn't hurt herself. She couldn't do an encore because she physically couldn't speak. Melanie has said this. Fans have said this. Her family have said this.

Surely, Melanie taking care of herself is so much more important than her risking her voice and career.

Yes, I am slightly annoyed. I have waited so long to be able to see her live and hear her sing, but because I support her, and want her to be ok, SO LET HER HAVE TIME OFF TO RECOVER!!

I hope when you are reading this future anna, you have been able to see Melanie live, and that she is fully ok. I wonder what her next album will be? She has said that it explores somewhere in Crybaby's town, so I am really excited!

I know that this message is being left after the play has finished, so I will leave you a message about that in the next few days! Bye future anna, stay safe xoxo

Legally Ginger

(beep)

hi future anna. as you are aware, the title of this blog post is a play on words with the musical 'Legally Blonde' because I/you are ginger. unless in the future you have dyed your hair. ooohhh have you dyed your hair future anna? is it a pastel blue?? I think that would be really cool but I already wear a lot of blue so it may clash and they say that ginger hair is dying out so it probably isn't a good idea to dye your/my hair because ya know i'm ginger. maybe one day i'll dip dye my hair pastel blue. I just like that colour.

anyyywayyyy...... on Thursday 17th November I went to go and see 'legally blonde' performed. it's the week before the play I am helping to direct starts and one of the cast has a spare (FREE!!! YASS) ticket to the show because his mum, who was gonna go, has to go down to London because his sister has just given birth to twins. congrats and all that but good luck because I know how difficult twins are to look after through the sims. gosh it's so stressful.

anyyywayyyy...... I had never seen the show before, film or on stage. I had never heard any of the songs. I don't even really know the story. but I love going to see shows and supporting people, especially as we want support for the play we are doing IN A WEEK!!! I hope it went ok future anna!!

so the show was BRILIANT!! the cast were so energetic and even though I didn't really know the songs, I just wanted to get up and dance because of how good they all were! if you have forgotten the story future anna, here ya go:

  • There is a girl called Elle Woods who is in a relationship with a guy. He breaks up with her because she is not "serious" enough for him, especially because he is about to attend Harvard Law School.
  • Elle studies and gets into Harvard Law to try and get him back, however she meets new friends and like most musicals, the ending is quite predictable but you feel so happy for the characters!

Even though BRIGHT PINK HAPPY SINGING SORORITIES aren't my thing, it was such a good show, and I really recommend it, just give it a chance!

ooohhh you know what future anna, well the girl who played Sophie in 'Honey Honey' that you went to go and see on your birthday, also played Elle Woods in this! I thought I recognised her,and she is still amazing at acting, singing and dancing. I hope things go well for her!

So yeah! it was a fun night and you got a lift home. what more could you want? I don't know when abouts in the future you are reading ts future anna, but I hope yo have been to support many more local ameture productions and seen new shows that you hadn't seen before. GIVE THEM A CHANCE GIRL!!

Bye for now, wish me luck for the play this week, even though you already know how it goes.

Bad Signal

(beep)

the title is a play on words with 'bad blood'. I know it's awful, ha. help me with titles.

Hey future anna. hope you have been ok since I left you a message like 2 weeks ago. since then I saw BASTILLE, SUCH A HEAVENLY BAND WHO HAVE MY HEART AND MY SOUL, perform in Manchester!! This was like 1 and a half weeks ago but I think I have only just recovered from what happened.

if you can't remember (WHICH YOU SHOULD BECAUSE IT WAS BASICALLY THE GREATEST MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE!!) the main singer DAN SMITH walked past you when they were performing flaws.

ok.

yep.

fangirling.

I think i'm still alive. *checks pulse*. yeah I think i'm good.

I don't know when you might read this again future anna, but maybe you have actually spoken to the members of bastille (or even had a hair flipping contest with woody but who knows...) or met one of your other singing idols.

If you have lost the footage (either no because it's so precious or yes because you always format computers and stuff wrong), here is a clip from flaws where the heavenly moment took place. enjoy (I know the quality I awful but that doesn't matter. I was there and that's all I need to know):

So that happened. yep.

the whole show was visually AMAZING! there were loads of big screens with crazy videos and animations that changed depending on the song that they were performing which created a whole experience for each song. have you seen the 'fake it' music video?? well the politician guy from it was on screen as well introducing the band and the support acts (who were also pretty cool!!) which created the idea that we were watching a news broadcast or something which I loved!! the whole experience was so beautiful and like every concert I go to, I just want to relive it again and again and again!

also the merch. let's take a minute for anna's bank account and the £60 she spent. yes future anna, present anna doesn't regret anything. sorry if you are in debt.

next week I am seeing melanie Martinez in manchester (ahhhhh!!!) so expect another blog post with me fangirling. also the short film is nearly finished being edited so it should be out early December. I really hope that it turns out well and everyone loves it and I can enter it in the raindance film festival, but i'm sure that when you are reading this back you know what happened.

I think that's everything. I hope the future is ok. speak later :)

Girls (and boys) on the phone (film).

p.s. the title is a play on 'girls on film' but I mixed it up and it makes no sense and I need help with titles cuz I want them to link with phones but idk, k on with the blog...

(beep)

So I think last week was one of the best experiences of my life. From Monday to Thursday, I shot my short film AND IT WAS GREAT. It is up there with seeing all my faves in concert, so you know it's good.

I haven't even said hello to you future anna. hey, how you doing? I'm currently trying to catch up on the 100s of youtube videos I wasn't able to watch last week because of filming, and writing this!

so after finishing the script and deciding to film over the week of half term, this is how it went down:

On Monday, Ciara and Harry came to my house who played Sara and Tom, and we filmed their sections of the film that only require those characters. It was so much fun, and as it was the first day I was slightly worried that things would go wrong, but it went so smoothly and I know that this is what I want to do for the rest of my life! Even though filming was so much fun and I can't wait to make a bloopers reel, I would say that the highlight of the day was when me, Ciara, and Thomas (my younger brother if ya don't know) were eating pizza during lunch (harry had a salad wrap because he likes healthiness) and Thomas was saying that you should always get the slice next to you, but if you want the last slice and it isn't near you, you are allowed to jump over the table! haha!!

On Tuesday, Gina and Josh came round, who played Ellie and Chris. This was like Monday, and was so fun! There were moments where I couldn't stop laughing, and I think the most memorable moment of the day was when we were shooting in "Chris' Room" and it was the final take and it was going so so so well, but then Gina got a clothes hanger stuck on her jumper and everyone was laughing but she tried to carry on! haha, it was so funny and I love re-watching that clip!

On Wednesday, Brendan who played Matt came round, and in the afternoon, Ayron who played Yasmin came round. Brendan and I seemed to get all of his shots done in like an hour, it was crazy fast! However I think my highlight of his individual filming time was when he had to get angry and do something a bit crazy and I was so worried that it wouldn't work, BUT HE WAS INCREDIBLEEE!!! Yessss for getting the shot first time!! Filming with Ayron in the afternoon was so fun, because we basically chilled whilst she smoked out of "Yasmin's bedroom" window. I got some super cool shots though that I can't wait to put together!

THEN CAME THURSDAY. All the cast, and Max (AN AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER) came round and it was so lovely to get everyone together! It was such an amazing atmosphere and it seriously felt like we were one big happy family! I WANT TO DO IT EVERYDAY!! It was so sad when the day came to an end, because even though I could have a lie-in on Friday, I wouldn't be able to film anything else to do with the film. I think one of my favourite parts of the day was when we were filming "Yasmin's room" which is a really small space, and I had to sit under my tripod because there was a massive light box and loads of cables I had to dodge, BUT WE DID IT!!! I will include some pics here for your enjoyment future anna:

Thank you so so so much to the whole cast and Max for an amazing week! I had so much fun and Hopefully we can all work together again in the future (sequel????)

So that's it future anna. my next blog post will either be about my sudden obsession with makeup BECAUSE IT IS SO SHINY AAND MAGICAL AND I FEEL LIKE A PRINCESS MERMAID UNICORN EVEN TALKING ABOUT IT, LET ALONE USING IT!! or seeing bastille in concert. ACTUAL GODS OF MUSIC. #fangirllife

See ya round future anna xoxo

A TELEPHONE?!?!

(beep)

Ok, first of all. That title was a joke based on the play when the character of Lady Bracknell says: A HANDBAG?!? ok cool, we can now continue with our planned telephone call.

How's it going future anna? Present anna seems to be doing so much. ahhhh. As well as working, learning to drive, FILMING A SHORT FILM NEXT WEEK (my dreams are coming trueee!) and eating, I am kinda helping to direct a play. If you hadn't guessed what the play is already (Handbag, Lady Bracknell...), a drama group that I am part of in a town near me is performing 'The Importance of Being Earnest' next month! How exciting!!

Ok future anna, I am going to provide you with the details incase you forget:

  • My mum informed me that a friend of hers was running drama workshops
  • I had already decided that I wanted to go because I missed being part of the drama group I was with during high school
  • Then me and my gran went to see a play which CRAZY COINCIDENTLY was performed by the group who was running the drama workshops.
  • I went to the workshops, they invited me to audition for their next play, I was in that play and now I am here a year later helping my friend James kinda direct the next play they are doing.
  • You're welcome future anna.

So what is the point of this blog post I here you ask.

Well one point is so that you can remember the dates of the play in years to come so you can look back and be happy and also remember that you were going to audition for the play but then you booked tickets to see MELANIE THE QUEEN MARTINEZ on opening night so James asked you to help direct instead which is very friendly but you still feel bad but MELANIE MARTINEZ. (There will be a melanie inspired blog post after I have seen her, stay tuned kidzzz).

But the main point is so that after years of sorting out folders and losing bits of paper and hopefully moving into my own place, you can still look at the poster for the play WHICH YOU TOOK THE IMAGE FOR! WHAT?!?!!? I know to some people this is really stupid and anyone can print out there picture and hang it up, but this is professionally printed and I want to be a film director/photographer in the future as my job, so the fact that James put MY  image on the poster makes me feel amazing and professional and so happy and yaayyaya!! So here is the poster for future reference (or if you lose the original which you probably will because I don't think future anna will be too different from present anna):

If you're reading this and you aren't future anna, feel free to come along and support the play!!

I am super excited to see everyone perform it in costume with the set and with lights and with everyone and IT'S NEXT MONTH!!

Also, fun fact for you future anna:

My/your granddad wanted a copy of the poster to keep because he was also excited for my image to be on it, but then he asked me to sign it. WHAT? hahah! I couldn't believe it! I sat down and practiced my autograph for 10 minutes then carefully wrote it in the corner. He was super happy! I felt famous!

So that has been the main thing happening I my life right now! I will update you with a blogpost after Saturday 26th (the final night) with pictures and how it goes! See you soon future anna!

blah blah blah

Ok future anna. When you create films in the future, please actually finish the script before you get a cast and set a week to film. This is because SURPRISE I have done exactly that. whoop whoop.

Yes, in 2 weeks (2 WEEKS WHAT?!?!?) I will begin to film my first short film. It is super super super exciting because most things are planned, I have an amazing cast and I just really want to get started with my dream in making films. Ok, so that is the positives. Now for the main negative. I HAVEN'T EVEN PROPERLY FINISHED THE SCRIPT YET AND I PLAN TO GIVE THE SCRIPT TO THE CAST TOMORROW!!

Ok, the way I want to work as a director (ooh la la sounding fancy) is that I give the characters the script for the scenes that they are in, and nothing else. I really like this idea (and so do the cast which makes me really happy!!) because if the stories that I am wanting to tell were real, the people would only know their part of the story and wouldn't see everyone's secrets. That is how I would like to work, so I am trying it out with this film. I hope that makes sense, and hopefully you are still following this method future anna! (This also means that when the cast see the finished film for the first time, they can see the whole story for the first time and not know what might happen!)
So I have just stopped writing this post to go and speak to my parents. They asked if I am still going to apply to university. I replied with: I haven't even written my personal statement.
They are fine with me not going to uni, they just want me to start having a look at what I want to do with my future. TBH I just want to make films, but I am starting to think if I can even support myself doing that? My dad said I shouldn't worry about that. I should worry about getting experience and getting my name out there. I feel a bit sad (If you know me you know that EVERYTHING makes me emotional. I need to sort my life out) because I feel a bit stuck and stuff, but hopefully future anna is reading this and she has everything sorted. PLEASE HAVE EVERYTHING SORTED!

So I guess that's it for now. Good luck future anna.

London Calling!

(beep)

Ay up future anna!

Even though the tubes and the super fast pace stresses me OUT!! I love travelling to London and exploring! Yesterday, me and some friends went to Shakespeare's Globe to see MACBETH! A few of us had been before to see A Midsummer Nights Dream around my birthday, and we loved it so much that we decided to go and see something else.

The show was INCREDIBLE! Like seriously!! It was directed by Iqbal Khan, and even though there is moments of comedy throughout the play (even around the deaths of major characters), Khan had stayed true to the ideas that Shakespeare may have had and created tension through it. The set was the traditional stage, but with panels of curved, thick, black wire. This kind of panelling also created a door to help with dramatic entrances. I feel like I am writing a drama essay, ha!

Hubble, Bubble, Toil, and Trouble! THE WITCHES WERE INCREDIBLE! Khan used elements of puppets, smoke, and music to create scary and large characters that could haunt Macbeth and his future. Talking about Macbeth, THE CAST WERE INCREDIBLE!!! Everyone was so skilled in the characters they played, and as Shakespearian language can sometimes be hard to understand, you can tell when people are great actors when they play more than one character and you can see the difference and you think they are different characters. Does that make sense? I can't really explain it but I know what I mean. ALSO LADY MACBETH WAS PLAYED BY TARA FITZGERALD WHO WAS IN GAME OF THRONES! AHHHHHH!!

I don't want to give too much away as going to the Globe is a super special experience, and if you get the chance to go, GO GO GO!!! (p.s. It isn't expensive to go! The cheapest tickets are £5 because they want it to be accessible to everyone!)

Whilst I was in London, I was able to go to the new Tate 360 thing where you can see a 360' view of London from the top floor of the Tate gallery. I felt like I was on the cover of the 'WILD WORLD' album from Bastille!

Anyway, I managed to get there and back home safe, so until next time, feel free to carry on being crazy fast paced London!

See ya later future anna! (p.s. you probably need to top up your oyster card for next time!)

Harry Potter Wants To Speak To You

(beep)

Hey, it's me again. Or you? We need to get this thing sorted but now is not the time.

I have something more important to talk about. I WENT TO THE HARRY POTTER STUDIOS!!!

Ever since it was opened to the public in 2012, I have begged my parents to take me. So on Saturday 24th September 2016, I was finally able to enter the Great Hall and see how the Harry Potter movies were created.

I don't know if you will be able to see this beautiful collage of photos I have put together over the phone, but if you can, here you go:

It was incredible. Seriously. As I am really into films, I found it so so so interesting to see the props, and sets and how the directors and the creators turned the books into what we have seen on the big screen!

One of my FAVOURITE scenes is in Deathly Hallows when Voldemort and his crew (including Snape) are sat around a large table at Malfoy Manor, and they torture the Hogwarts teacher Charity Burbage. Nagini then eats her. Even though this is a disgusting moment which is horrible to watch, it is so powerful and the fact that I was able to see the costumes, the set, and how they made it, is crazy to me. (I also love when Bellatrix is torturing Hermione. I know I sound really sick, but from a director/writer/creative point of view, it is such a powerful moment that sparks Ron and fills him with courage.)

As I am writing this, I still can't believe that I have been able to go to the ACTUAL STUDIOS WHERE HARRY POTTER WAS MADE!! It is now on my bucket list to go to the Harry Potter World thing at Universal Studios. Let me know if you wanna come with me and I will be down to fly over there and fangirl.

Tips for going to the studios:
  1. Say it is your birthday. Wear a birthday badge. Trust me, you will thank me.
  2. I would say it takes about 3 hours to fully experience the studios and try everything (e.g. fly on the brooms, take photos, read everything, etc), however you could spend 4 or more hours there if you stopped at the café on the way just before you see the backlot. If you are planning to stay longer, check the official website to see when the studios close on the day you are going.
  3. There are 2 merchandise shops. 1 is located on platform 9 and 3/4, where you see THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS. The items you can get in that shop is specific for the train and the platform, and you can't get any of the items you see in that shop in the main shop (except the wands). So if you see something you wanna get on the platform, get it then and there because the studios is one way and you might not be able to get back. The BIG FINAL shop is crazy, with people everywhere! You may want to look at the official website again to plan if you want to find anything in particular to get. The shops are slightly pricey, but what do you expect?? (chocolate frog- £8.95, keyrings/magnets- £4-£15, tshirts- £15-£40, wands- £20-£200, etc)
  4. Look up and down and all around in the main exhibition space because there are props and sets all over the place! You don't want to miss anything!
I think that is everything. I hope you are ok and MAYBE WHEN YOU ARE READING THIS YOU HAVE VISITED UNIVERSAL STUDIOS?!?!? A girl can dream!

Speak to you soon future anna. Stay magical!

You Have 1 New Voicemail

(beep)

Hi future anna, it's me. Or should I say you?
I have decided to start this blog as a sort of digital diary. When I first started youtube in 2013, all I wanted to do was post DIY videos. I was then swept away with all these different ideas and people doing crazy youtube things, both good and bad, that I just decided to stop. It was a difficult decision, but 7 months ago, I stopped posting to my channel. I had grown past my DIYs, however I had created a love for film and photography. That’s now what I want to do. Make films. I thought about vlogging as a digital diary, and even though I enjoyed it for the few days I tried it, I just couldn’t see myself wanting to film everything in my day and putting it up online for the world to see. So this blog is my new venture. I’m not doing it for money. I’m not doing it for fame. I’m doing it so that future anna can look back at these posts and see memories, photographs, video clips, and any other bits I want to put in here. It’s a bit like a scrapbook of voice mails. I don’t really know, but I like the idea.
A bit about me:
  1. I'm 18 and currently in my gap year. This gap year may last forever. I still don't know really.
  2. To be honest, I hate texting and much prefer speaking to someone in person, but I love telephone calls, so that is kinda what inspired me with the format of this blog.
  3. It is my dream to go in a seaplane. And be a film maker, but the seaplane dream seems cooler.
  4. I'm a vegetarian because I don't really enjoy the texture of meat. Eat whatever you want, you support me and I will support you.
  5. I have 7 cactus. They all have names and are basically my children.
  6. I am a fangirl. Katy Perry, Kacey Musgraves, Bastille, Melanie Martinez, Mumford & Sons, Girli, Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, and many, many more.
  7. There are lots more other things I could list but I will just give you those details for now. You will learn more about me if you want to through my posts and social media.
So I guess that is all for now. I don't think I am going to have a schedule or anything. I will post as often as I want my future self to know about. I should probably hang up now or I won't have any minutes left.
Bye anna, give me a ring back if you can.
