Don't Hang up on Imagine Dragons

(Beep)

Ay up future anna! I really enjoyed writing about my time at the pvris gig late last year, so i thought i would do it again! Yesterday, my friend Charlotte, her friend Jodie, and I travelled to the Genting Arena in Birmingham to see Imagine Dragons! Truthfully, i am a fan of the band! I have followed their progress over the past few years, and know the choruses to their biggest songs. But I know hardly anything about them. I know like every single person in the band is called Dan, and i discovered when they were talking during the show that they're from Vegas! But other than that, i was kinda going to the show blind. I knew they would be great, but wow. They blew my socks off.

K. FLAY performing!!
So after eating mini eggs, waiting in the queue, smuggling mini eggs in my pockets, and standing in the arena for a while, the band's support came onto the stage! K. Flay, who i hadn't heard of until i saw her banner, was completely and utterly wicked! Her smokey and crisp voice (not to everyone's taste, but i was obsessed) was perfectly paired with incredible rock notes from the band behind her. She filled the stage, which is hard to do, and had the audience around me captivated. She truly did warm up the crowd and get us excited. One thing i really loved was how the lighting matched her music, which created an exciting atmosphere that i couldn't help but dance along to. Her vibe was something i really would love to experience again, and she has been added to my spotify playlist, no doubt about it!

She finished her set. The lights came on. We waited. The lights went down.

In front of a rainbow banner, matching their most recent album cover, Imagine Dragons were presented to us. The crowd were electrified, and as they stood taking in what was in front of them, i looked around me and saw so many smiles and excited faces. It was so lovely to be surrounded by so much love. My band is Bastille, and whenever i see them, well, i can't even explain how happy it makes me. It was lovely to know that the people around me who loved the guys on the stage just meters from where we were stood were filled with so much joy. Music is powerful.

Dan Reynolds, the main singer, took his place on the front of the stage and they began with I Don't Know Why.

After it finished, he started talking about America. Who isn't? But it's so great to see people who have a platform, use it. For good. He said it's time for change. It's time for love. It's time for acceptance. Then the familiar beat of their song It's Time began, and i don't think i have ever felt as united with complete strangers, singing a song i kinda knew, then at that moment.

Can we please just take a moment to appreciate the visuals of this show? The amount of time and effort that goes into creating all the visual displays you see at shows like this take so much time and thought, but everything was executed perfectly. Each song was illuminated through new visuals and lights, really bringing to life the band and their song's capabilities. I hadn't really listened to their song Gold before, but after seeing it performed and bought to life in front of me, it has been added to my playlist.

Whilst we're on visuals, can we also just take a minute to thank the team who cleans the venue after it's use because oh my word they released confetti like every other song and massive balloons. I was living for all the colour and shoved so much in my bag, but props to the guys who have to clean that up haha!!

a member of the band (i don't know names i am so truly sorry) being so good at playing the guitar i just stood in awe for a few minutes.
The stage had a tiny catwalk off the front, yeah, i was gonna make that sound all fancy, but it does what it says on the tin. It was a lil stage area off the bigger stage area. The end.

Dan, the main singer, not the other dan's, spent most of the show on this performance area, unless he was playing the drums, and i think he might have played the keyboard at one point but i can't remember. He interacted with the fans around him, and the smile on his face when the crowd sung back the words he had written or a song had finished made me so proud. The music industry is difficult to navigate, but this band seem to have mastered it. He knew his dreams had come true, which is so inspiring. Credit where credit's due though, dan did give the others a chance to rock this small area that was projected into the crowd, and let me tell you they ROCKED IT! Like i said, i don't know all their songs, so cannot say the exact ones the guitarists had solos in, but when their time came, they shone. It's always lovely to see a whole band shown and celebrated, not just lead performers from the group. I don't know who it was, but one of the guitarists had an awesome blazer and a sparkly guitar so if he wants to share his wardrobe tips with me one time i would be so down for that!

I entered the venue not really knowing who made up the band, but left hoping they are all so happy with where they are. They are genuine, lovely people, who have awesome music and skills which they are not putting to waste.

Each and every show has the slow section with the really meaningful tracks, and this show was no different. This isn't hate btw, these sections are normally my favourite part of the show.

Dan took a few minutes to talk about mental illness and how we need to look after each other. He went into detail and i could relate so i actually though i was gonna cry, but i didn't. He nearly had me though hahah! They sang their song Demons and i listened to it in a whole new light. Wow. It's so difficult to capture feelings, but they've done that. Each of their songs holds a different emotion, to them and to each listener. It was magical being able to relate and not feel alone.

A little later in the show, the band moved to a smaller stage by the tech desk, and performed a few slowed down versions of their songs. One of my favourite songs of theirs is I Bet My Life, and the way they offered it from this smaller stage was so precious and united the audience in a major way even though they had played it down quite a lot. I loved it.

To finish the show, they of course had to play Thunder and Believer. Everyone came to life, listening to these fan favourites, and i don't think anyone in the seating areas were still sat down by this point. I love these 2 tracks, so to hear them live was incredible. Of course confetti, lighting and smoke bought these songs to life, but the band were so captivating, you couldn't help but focus on them perform their art pieces live. https://www.instagram.com/p/BfmbC7SlEB7/?taken-by=spacegiraffe_

The band left the stage. The lights came up. The audience screamed for more. The lights went down.

The band reentered the stage, all beaming from the performances they had just given. They performed Walking The Wire, and just when we thought they were done, familiar notes started playing and the crowd were screaming as Radioactive began. The song that had made them famous was known by every person in that room, even me. Every word.

The crowd and the band all sang together. An incredible moment shared by everyone.

The band stood together and bowed as one as the audience cheered. They waved and left the stage. It was over. I hope i get to see them perform again one day.

Charlotte, Jodie and I stood to take in what had just happened. Our ears ringing, our minds blown, and my everyday playlist would be growing by quite a few songs, as well as my cd collection. Imagine Dragons, K. Flay, you're incredible. Thank you. Never stop creating, doing what you love, and using the platforms you have for good. That kinda rhymes.

So my first gig of the year went off with a BANG! Imagine Dragons truly made me feel like i was on top of the world, ayyyyyyy! Cannot wait for the other concerts i have coming up! Enjoy them future anna :)

BFI Screenwriting Residential

(beep)

so something super exciting happened! i was accepted onto a screenwriting course! ahhhh!!!! it's run through the BFI at a cool cinema in Newcastle Upon Tyne and i am super excited! It's run over 2 weeks, the first is an introductory weekend so we can begin the writing and meet everyone. the second is a week in February where we finish our scripts and see them come to life! i cannot wait! This post is going to be written over the 2 residentials, and posted when it's done, so future anna, we are going quite a bit back in time, even though it's the present for me hahaha......

Introductory Weekend // 13th-14th January

hello hello hello! it's actually january 16th now, as i was super busy over the weekend to write up what happened. basically, instead of going home on the sunday night, i went to my brother's instead so i could meet my nephew! I then came home on the 15th ready for my sister's birthday meal. yep, it's been a little crazy, i actually feel jet lagged from all the trains i have been on haha! anyway, flash back to early Saturday morning, and when i say early, i mean just before 7am. my first train out of 3 was leaving the station at 8:11, and i live about 30 minutes from the station, so the aim was to leave about 7:30. we actually left about 7:20, and arrived to the station with so much time to spare! i would rather be too early than late though, and i had enough time to get a cup of tea to keep me warm! fast forward 3 and a half hours and i was in NEWCASTLE!! woo! i found my way to the pop up film school which was opposite the cinema, and met the rest of the gang! everyone on the course was super super lovely and most people loved bastille so i think i found my people haha! after a lovely lunch, we started going through screenwriting techniques, how to write a script, the elements of film, how a story goes from script to screen, etc. it was so interesting. after a short break, we spent the rest of the afternoon/early evening going through scripts people had written on the course in previous years! this was great for understanding how a story is shown in 5 minutes or less through a script! for tea, we went to an Italian restaurant called zizzi's which i had never been to before. it was nice food, but the banter was better! haha! we then collected our stuff from the cinema and got into a coach to get to the overnight accommodation. we stayed at a national trust place called Gibside, and it was basically 2 big dorm rooms and a kitchen/living room space. after getting into our pj's and choosing our beds, the boys came into the girl's side and we played charades and loads of funny lil games until about 11pm! it was then time for me to go to bed!

the next day, i woke up, showered, and had some toast with LURPAKKKK (i love me some lurpak!) and hopped back on the coach with everyone! well not literal hopped, but ya get the gist. also, side note, there was a random plastic life size cow down a little alleyway near the entrance to the dorms and it freaked so many of us out hahah!

when we were back at the pop up film school, we spent the morning going through our own stories with our mentors in our groups. my mentor was a lovely guy called paul, and my group was made up of: jerome, hazel, jordon, aiden, charlotte, phoebe, sara, and myself! we also went through what makes up a story, which was really really really interesting! we then had a delicious lunch and then in the afternoon we had 1 to 1's with our mentors. when applying to the course, we had to submit 4 script ideas, so we went through these during the 1 to 1. through mine, i discovered that my ideas were either too long to fit in 5 minutes, or didn't follow the 7 steps for telling a story. i then spent the rest of the afternoon going through the 7 steps to create a new story idea. after about an hour, i had an idea, and i was super happy with it. i went to paul to explain it and he said he really liked it! YES!!! as the session came to an end, we went through the work we would have to do before we went back for the week (write an outline of the story, and then write the first draft), and then headed to the train station. it was actually a little sad leaving these people i now called friends. we hadn't had much time together, but i felt so inspired when i was surrounded by them all! i cannot WAIT to go back!

so now i am here. i have started work on my outline which needs to be submitted before monday 22nd, and then after we get feedback, we start work on the actual script. cannot wait to see what happens next!

Craft Week // 11th-16th February

Sunday 11th

15:24 hello i am on train number 2 and it's pouring it down. Outside luckily. It seems to be a mix of snow and rain, but it looks harsh so i am glad to be inside. I am sat on one of the fold down seats near the toilet because where i got on the train was surrounded by first class carriages, so it was here, or risk getting off to change carriages and the train begins to go. I don't mind really. My mum got me some white chocolate m&ms for the journey because white chocolate is my favourite. The train has been stopped for about 4 minutes now, and i am getting anxious as i only have 10 minutes at the next station to switch to the next train, but i also have a case to try and carry. And as the train isn't moving, it isn't looking promising which is scaring me. A lot.

15:43 still haven't moved. Freaking out slightly, but i called the residential main guy Ian and told him, and also checked other train times so hopefully i do arrive in Newcastle in one piece and without crying lmao hahah

15:50 started moving. finally...

16:09 omg there is like a full on blizzard taking place outside. It's white yet dark and i am confused and just want to arrive in newcastle and have food...

16:18 i have managed to move seats, but i am still in the same carriage. At least i ain't next to the toilet lol. The train is running approx 30 minutes late so that's grrrrreat.

17:05 just about to arrive at york. Missed my train, there is another though. Oh my life haha

17:32 on the final train of the day. Due into newcastle at 6:25 and my ears are really cold. I have a hat with me but it's in my suitcase and i ain't in the mood for opening it.

17:49 these 2 people on the train won't stop kissing on the seats in front of me and i want to run away help me

23:42 oh gosh it's quite a lot later now. Sooo i finally made it to newcastle, met up with everyone, went to a chinese buffet for tea, watched 'the mercy' (realllyyy good) in the Tyneside cinema, and now i am here, in my bed in the hostel. I am sharing a room with rachel and rebecca and they are both so lovely and funny. The rooms are massive!! Cannot wait to start tomorrow!

Monday 12th

7:27 good morning!! I slept pretty well, and i don't really want to get out of this bed, but i better get a wriggle on! Had a dream katy perry interacted with me a lot on tour which was amazing.

8:45 for breakfast i am having toast, a croissant, a chocolate muffin (might save for later though), and apple juice!! Yum!!

9:32 at the pop up film school now! Although i have just made a huge mistake: brushed my teeth and then helped myself to some orange juice. Yep. I know. It's awful hahah!!

10:44 LET'S START WRITING!!!

13:20 finishing lunch just now, had a sandwich buffet which was tasty, although i do feel a little bloated! Sitting and chilling is nice!

15:42 written 3 seperate drafts, listening to johnny cash- gets me in the wild west mood, i don't know why but it's helping! Hahha!

16:02 got a cup of tea. Much needed.

17:23 packing away my writing for the day, my tummy hurts, being in a new place with different foods and things always messes me up a little. I really need to focus on one of my stories ideas, so sent my favourite to my script editor paul, and hopefully he agrees with the one i have chosen.

18:14 dropped off our stuff at the hostel, so we're ready to go out for tea!! I think we're going to an Italian restaurant which is always gonna be good in my book!

20:20 finished tea! Wow, it was such a lovely building, and i think all the staff were Italian which made me feel like i was in italy! For starters, i had leek and potato soup, and for main i had spinach and cheese ravioli (MY FAVE!!!) with a tomato sauce! Delicious! Ian has suggested a walk, so i am gonna go on it to see some of the sights of Newcastle at night!

21:19 back from a walk now. I'M FREEZING!! Haha! We walked over the millennium bridge and saw some cool buildings and graffiti! Back in the room and we're gonna watch wild child as the tv in our room is connected to netflix. Winner winner.

23:34 night night! I'm tired, and a little nervous about my script idea, but i'm sure it will be fine! p.s. we are gonna learn the wild child dance!

Tuesday 13th

8:49 happy pancake day!! Just finished breakfast, and i chose to have: a blueberry muffin, a croissant, water, apple juice, and an apple! i don't think i explained yesterday, but we are allowed 5 items for breakfast, and the items are all great!!

15:34 i haven't updated since this morning, and that's because i have been suuuuppppeerrrr busy writing scripts! I have decided on the script i sent to paul to look over, and i actually really like it. It's different to my original idea, but is still in the same setting, and has the same characters, just with some different personalities and goals! I think we are going across to the restaurant connected to the cinema tonight for tea which i am excited about because i would love to see what it's like inside! We are also all gonna read through our scripts in the group tonight to get feedback, which i think will be really helpful!!

19:37 tea in the restaurant wasn't the greatest, although i had a really tasty veggie burger and i had no clue what was in it! Haha!! This room looks like the red room from twin peaks because the walls are draped with red curtains. Hopefully there are no backwards talking dwarves waiting to freak me out haha! Had a great deep life chat with hazel, Phoebe, sara and jordon! It was lovely!!

00:03 The readthrough lasted a lonnnggg time, so we got back to the hostel late. We decided to watch an episode of the windsors which we have been obsessed with! It's so funny! Rachel also plaited my hair and i have never felt so fabulous!! Super tired, so hopefully i get a good nights sleep!

Wednesday 14th

9:05 woke up, showered, did a French lesson on duolingo, got dressed (yes in that order), watched an episode of the windsors, came downstairs, had breakfast. My 5 items today were: toast, a croissant, a blueberry muffin, and 2 fruit juices (1 i drank, 1 i am taking with me). This 5 items thing is great!!!

12:14 gonna head for lunch in a few moments, but i think i am nearing the end of my script writing journey! I am super happy with the story i have gone with, just need to finish polishing it off! Hopefully paul can look over it during lunch to let me know the next step!

13:29 back from lunch now! Another sandwich buffet, and i think i have found my daily order (cheese and pickle sandwich, cheese and onion sandwich, mini quiche, crisps, and some sort of chocolate bar, maybe fruit though if it's there!)! Haha! Had a lovely chat with the girls in my group about life and stuff, like we had done the previous night in the restaurant! Just waiting for my feedback from paul, and hopefully my script is nearly done!

17:24 after waiting and waiting (i know he was busy with everyone else in the group) for paul to read my final draft to admit it, my work is on the memory stick and no longer in my hands! Wooo!! I can't believe i am done. My script, synopsis, and cast breakdown are completed. there is nothing more i can do to 'Hang Fire' now.

19:50 WWOWOWOWOOWOW!!! just got out of a dance class.  yes, you read that right, a dance class! for tonight's activity, they said they were taking us somewhere they go every year after everyone has submitted their scripts, and that's to a dance class. a chance to laugh and do something that's nothing to do with writing for an hour. omg i loved it! i was in a group with rachel, rebecca and emma and we went all out! we thought we might as well just go for it and enjoy the moment as we might not be able to do anything like it again! the dance instructor was incredible, she taught us so much, but my legs do hurt quite a bit haha! walking back to the pop up film school now as we are gonna have pizza and a film. perfect for a cute valentines night!

20:13 dominoes is sat waiting for us outside. we are gonna watch scott pilgrim (one of my favourite films), and eat eat eat!!

21:27 The film is nearly finished and i have eaten just over half a pizza. i am so full, but i am so happy right now!

Thursday 15th

7:43 last night, when we got back to the hostel, i washed my hair, so i am just in bed, having a little lie in. I have done my duo lingo lesson for the day, so i should probably get up soon!

8:37 we are all ready to go down to breakfast, but we are finishing the last episode of the windsors first. it has been the creator of most of our inside jokes this week. it's an incredibly funny tv show! we are obsessed!! i guess it gives me time to think about what 5 items i am gonna get for breakfast today. i might have cereal with yogurt!

10:03 we are now sat at the cinema in the digital lounge, waiting for the presentations to start. first off, Ian will give us the 10 tips for being a great screenwriter, and then 2 young filmmakers are gonna talk to us! i did have cereal with yogurt for breakfast and it was super tasty!!!!

13:30 i have just gotten back from lunch, where there were some amazing rocky roads. they were just beautiful. i can't even explain haha!! Came up with a great comedy tv idea with rach and rebecca, kinda based on the windsors, surprise surprise!! the first 2 talks this morning were so great! i learnt so much. the 2 young filmmakers showed us their most recent films and did a bit of a q&a, which told me that not going to uni and making films is a great idea. i told them how thankful i was for them saying that. Ian's 10 tips were so great, and a few i had never ever thought of before. I have jotted down so much on my phone so far! Now we have Samm Haillay coming to speak to us. He is a producer!

14:51 time for a much needed tea break! For me, Samm gave me the real, cut throat look into the industry. he joked about it, but told us what we needed to know. although he didn't answer abida's question of 'what does a producer do?' so who actually know, hey! The final person coming to speak to us is Stewart Svaasand, a writer and director. Abida and I just googled it, and he directed/written for a lot of well known tv shows (e.g. jekyll & hyde, vera, shetland, silent witness, the dumping ground, death in paradise, etc) which is super exciting!

18:10 we are now back at the hostel, although we do have to leave in about 20 minutes for a meal. Rebecca has some friends near here she went travelling with so wanted to go for a meal with them, however she couldn't go on her own, so emma, rachel, and myself said we would go with her! we are gonna go to Don Vito's which is an Italian just round the corner, and i thought it would be good after we passed it on the walk the other night. We are just freshening up a little, and then we will head out!

23:27 we got back to the hostel about 9:30pm, and the food at don vito's was great! i had a veggie pizza, but i couldn't eat it all. i was so hungry but filled up quickly! when we got back to room 211, Rachel, Rebecca, and i had a little funny photoshoot and the results were hilarious. i truly feel these 2 girls are so like me. we can be serious, but we can also act like we are about 7 years old haha!! as well as taking some pics, we made up some more dances, and after a few failed recording attempts due to getting the moves wrong and bursting into hysterical laughing (i thought i lost my water bottle which meant we couldn't stop laughing for a while hahaha!), we got the final take! we got into out pjs, stuck on mamma mia, and enjoyed our last night together.

Friday 16th

21:41
Wow. I am laying in bed in a hotel in newcastle. I am with my mum and my gran and tomorrow we go home. The bfi residential is over. It's crazy. I haven't written up anything today, so i guess i will document it now! I woke up and showered, then we stuck on the end of mamma mia, as we hadn't finished it last night, starting with the 'slipping through my fingers' song which we were all very emotional about. As you know, we had tokens allowing us to 5 items, but we had 6 tokens left, so for the last breakfast we challenged ourselves to have 10 items each. Omg i used up 7 and i didn't even finish them all! Rachel and Rebecca used up their 10 items, but all of us took most of what we picked up with us haha! We packed up our bags and headed to the pop up film school.

We had about 2 hours to do whatever we wanted to do, and everyone left to shop and explore apart from Emma and I. We put on napoleon dynamite in the film school! I hadn't seen it before, but it was so quirky and wes anderson-esque i felt.

About 12, our family and friends started arriving to see our scripts read out. There was a drinks reception and some snacks and lemme tell you how good those snacks were, especially the chilli/tomato crisp things (and let's not forget about the mocktails!!)!!! just before 1, we headed across the road to the cinema and took our seats.

paul's group was first to perform, and i was 4th. it was such a surreal and magic moment. i knew exactly what was gonna happen in my story as i had written it, but the actors made it come to life, it wasn't mine anymore. to have your work clapped for, and your name on a big screen makes everything feel worth it, and tells me that i can achieve anything i put my mind to. i was quite glad my script was one of the first to be read out as it meant i could properly enjoy the other stories without feeling worried about mine. the 21 others are all so talented. we had comedies which were all so funny, serious dramas and period pieces, which introduced me to stories i might not have heard before, and i was just in awe of everyone. i try and surround myself with lovely, creative people, and i had spent the week surrounded by them. it's so sad that it's over.

this week has been a life changing experience. i've learnt so much and met people i will be friends with forever (i hope lol). i know what i want to do now, and kinda how to get there. i know it's ok to not be at university. i know that my dreams can come true.

tomorrow, my gran, mum and I will explore newcastle for a little while before heading home on the train.

i would like to thank tyneside cinema, ian, magenta, and the rest of the team for planning, caring for us, and giving me the best experience.

i would also like to thank the bfi for recognising the need for young people in this industry, when so many don't.

i would also like to thank my family for always supporting me and being there, and my jobs for letting me have time off. sorry guys!!

i guess that's all for now. if you wanna see visuals of these words, here is a short video of memories i put together:

keep writing, keep working hard, prove to those who have said 'no', make those who have said 'yes' proud. you're awesome future anna!

Creators & Actors I Would like To Work With (in my dreams)

(beep)

hello future anna! hope you're well! and to anyone else reading this, i hope you have a good day! so, i thought i would write down a few names of the people i plan on working with in my wildest dreams! to narrow it down, or we could be here for a whileeee, i have put the names into 2 sections, and have 4ish people in each section. some of these people could be in either section, but i have put them into the section to do with how i would like to work with them, e.g. if they are in the 'actors' section, they would act in a film of mine/ if they are in the 'creators' section, we would work on a project together. does that make sense? probably not, but right now it makes sense to me! anyway, on with the show!

obviously, i don't know these people. they may not be nice, they may have had bed reviews, or you may not like them. we all have dreams, and these people have created/been in some of my favourite productions, so of course i would like to learn more about how they work/meet them. if you don't agree, that's ok. but this is just my lil crazy internet blog, i'm never gonna end up working with any of them! hahah!

creators

David Lynch - David Lynch has always been an inspiration to me. The fact his crazy ideas are allowed to be on TV, allows me to believe that one day the same might happen to me. He seems to friendly and creative, I would love to work around someone who puts so much work into his worlds and characters. Even though his work is surreal and mine isn't, i like my films to make the surreal more real, so i guess i'm inspired by him in that way too.
Quentin Tarantino - Iconic. Tarantino has been an inspiration to me since I first saw Pulp Fiction with my dad. I was probably too young to understand the first time I watched it, but the story telling is incredible. Along with his other films, I love how he makes the ordinary completely the opposite, and his creative choices are done with such flare, that I think it would be wicked to have an incite into his movie making process.
Steve Pemberton/Reece Shearsmith - These 2 come as a pair, so I couldn't just pick one! As I was discovering more about tv and films, a show called Inside No.9 popped up on our screens, and it has been one of my all time favourite shows ever since. I would say all of my stories are inspired by these two, as they were some of the first stories I saw that always had me unsure of how the episode would finish. I could never predict how it would end, and that's one thing I always try and include in everything i write. It's not to everyone's taste, but why be predictable when you can throw a spanner in the works? I would love to see how their scripts and stories come to life in person!
Carol Morley - I first discovered Carol when I saw that Maisie Williams was starring in one of her films. The Falling is now one of my favourite stories, and each time I watch it, I am enchanted and inspired. Her writing is something I fall in love with everytime I read/see it. Her approach to ideas is so lovely, that I just want to meet her and see how her stories come about. I know my other 3 choices are men, but Carol truly stands out in the creators field for me. I just can't love her more!

actors

Maisie Williams - I became a fan of Game of Thrones just as season 4 was starting (I think), and I instantly fell in love with the character Arya. I could relate to her. As she grew up in front of me, i wanted to find out more about the actress who played her. Since then, Maisie has been one of my favourite actresses. She is so down to earth and likable, and becomes the characters she plays, which can be hard to do for someone who has such a major role in one of the world's biggest tv shows. She has proved her ability. I have since seen her in The Falling, IBoy, Gold, and a few other films that I only watched because she was in them. I love her!
Anya Taylor-Joy - Over Christmas, my parents and I watched a 2 part series called The Miniaturist. It's based on a book and the show starred Anya as a beautiful yet confused character. I feel she played the part beautifully. She is elegant and passionate about what she does. I haven't actually picked up the courage to watch Split yet, but i cannot wait to see her in The New Mutants, alongside Maisie Williams, and in her next release Thoroughbreds which looks insane!!
Keeley Hawes - I first properly saw Keeley act when I was watching Ashes To Ashes, a series follow up to Life On Mars. My parents liked the show so they bought to boxset and I watched them all with them. Wow. I fell in love with how she became a character, and made me feel true emotions towards them. I have since seen her in a few other shows, such as Line Of Duty, but most recently was The Missing, where again she made me feel so much towards a character. I think she's incredible, and I can't wait to see what she's in next!
David Morrissey - My Dad and I watched a TV series called One Summer, and I wanted to see more of David Morrissey acting. I don't know what it was about him, but the way he held who he was throughout his performances was amazing to me. We watched more of him in The Walking Dead as The Governor, and I was actually sad when his character was killed because I loved what he bought to the show. I was over the moon when I saw that he was going to be starring alongside Keeley Hawes in The Missing. I just love his passion when he acts, I think he would be incredible to work with.

this blog post is paired with a youtube video where i answer questions about films and tv shows, so i will leave the link for that here, if you're interested:

so that's it! of course there are more (i haven't mentioned people like tom hanks, emma thompson, etc because everyone would give their right leg to make a film with them!), but we would be here all day if i didn't narrow it down! who would you like to work with/meet in the film/tv industry? see you on set future anna!

Singers/Bands You Should Know About!

(beep)

hey hey hey! how you doin' future anna and anyone else reading this? good i hope! over the past few years, i have discovered more music than i ever hoped. i went to more concerts than i could have wished for, and found some really cool artists! i plan to continue doing this because it makes me happy, but for today, i thought i would jot down 7 of my favourite artists/bands that you may have never heard of but should definitely listen to! these are in no specific order, just the order they came to my head in! all of these opinions are my own, but i have done a bit of research through spotify also!

issac gracie

i found issac through instagram, and i think he's incredible. he's 22, and has already travelled most of the world with his music, and he isn't stopping yet. he has released a few eps, but i found him just after he released his most recent 'The Death Of You & I'. i love it. i'm obsessed! it's calming and quiet, and makes me miss a relationship i've never had. it's classic, yet it rocks, and brings to life a story. it starts emotions and feelings. his voice is nostalgic and safe. i think it's brilliant to listen to when i'm in the bath or just having a chill moment. stick him on shuffle, and you won't regret listening to any of the songs that pop up!

tyne

tyne is the music project of grace shelley, a 19 year old magician in my eyes. her music is calming, yet alive, beautiful and electric. she captures stories incredibly well, with her deep yet charming voice. i first discovered her singing live at a gig, and as soon as i heard her exciting melodies, i had to hear more and more. the stories she delves into are so real and relatable, especially as i am also 19. stick her on shuffle and each song of hers brings something new to the table, and i think her music can suit everyone's taste. she only has 5 songs on spotify, but has already been highly recognized by the bbc. give her some love, you won't regret it!

i recommend: Girly

tash sultana

wow. what can i say about tash that hasn't already been said? she can play over 20 instruments, and sell out shows wherever she goes, yet i didn't discover her until a week ago. my friend had discovered her out busking in australia, and one day she was picked up and has not stopped since! her music is beachy, much like her roots, but it's spiced up with her shredding on the guitar for most of her tracks. she is a true musician in my eyes. her songs bring her personality to life, and the fact she plays every instrument whilst recording is legendary! even though her music is calming, i play it when i need something that provides a little more. go listen to her ep 'Notion'!

china lane

i found china lane when i was out in manchester one day. they were busking, and i think every single person who was in that area stopped what they were doing and watched the performance! after, i bought a cd from them which they all signed. they were so friendly, much like their music. their creations are warm and homely, yet awake and electrifying! i can imagine their singles being on every party playlist, bringing life and love to the people who hear them. they only have 2 singles on spotify, yet are in high demand for live performances, and are always out busking to give a treat to passersby! i am so lucky to have their cd to hear more of what they've done, and hopefully they will continue doing what they are so good at!

girli

this pink princess stole my heart quite a while ago! i first discovered her song 'Girls Get Angry Too' and it BLEW MY MIND! seriously! if you wanna support an artist who stays true and individual to her unique personality, and supports some awesome causes, girli is the one to watch. she raps, sings, and produces her iconic tunes which bring to life and address topics that other artists might be too scared to look at. her sound is futuristic, yet still close to home, giving confidence to people of all genders, and ending the girls v boys music war. i think she's wicked, and i hope to see her live some day! she has seriously made herself and her visions known, and she isn't stopping yet! she has collaborated with some pretty cool artists, and released a few HOT eps, so stick her on shuffle, grab your girlfriends, and have a major dance party!

i recommend: Hot Mess

the seamonsters

i found the seamonsters through instagram and i think they are incredible! a 6-piece girl band from Sheffield who describe their sound as "Indie Glitter', have taken us back through time to a dreamy 80s disco, filled with shiny streamers, bright pink fruit punch, and a pastel-suited band that everyone in the room has a crush on. they truly are the word GIRL POWER, and host heavenly vocals as well as rocking a range of instruments. they are down to earth, friendly, and their style choices are bright and colourful, reflecting into their catchy songs! this is also shown through their quirky and cute single covers, which can never be mistaken for not being theirs. if you wanna be transported through time, stick them on shuffle, and you won't look back to present day!

i recommend: Wonderland

the tuts

and last but not least, i introduce to you: The Tuts! an all-girl band, promoting feminism was first revealed to me when they collaborated with Girli on a remix of her single 'Mr 10pm Bedtime'. i was instantly charmed by the girl's attitudes that i had to hear more! they create catchy tunes that still feel new after hearing them 15 times. their music is alive, and makes me want to get up and dance. i close my eyes and i'm transported to a tiny basement gig, surrounded by love! that sounds crazy, but whether you listen to their singles, eps, or album, you will feel the same! they are the girl's next door that you wanna be best friends with. their sound is like early 2000s, with a hint of the present day. they make me feel like a little kid again, dancing around and throwing my hair up and down. i feel cool when i hear their songs, and if that doesn't persuade you to listen to them, i don't know what will, haha!!

i recommend: Dump Your Boyfriend

so those are 7 bands/artists that i feel so many more people should know about! obviously their are more, soooo many more, but if i put them all in, you wouldn't be reading this ending right now! i might do a part 2, so if you have anyone you wanna recommend, let me know! see you around!!
