TV Series I Recommend #1

(beep)

Hello future anna! I have just finished my breakfast and I'm currently watching Netflix and I have been inspired to start writing down and sharing my favourite tv series to share with the world! Here is post number 1 in this series i guess, so here are 3 of my favourite tv series that i really really recommend...

Dynasty

This is the show I am currently watching! I FRICKIN LOVE IT! Available on Netflix and The CW (in America), Dynasty follows the crazy lives of 2 wealthy American families, the Carrington's and the Colby's! It's a modernised reboot of the 1980s primetime show of the same name following the same families. I have never seen the original version so can't compare the 2 but this new one is fantastic. I have never really been into soaps but I find this show so gripping. We primarily see the show through Fallon Carrington's eyes, who is the daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington who originally made money through oil but now has his hand in many business ventures. I adore this show because as well as seeing the glamorous parties and the glitz of a rich life, we also see the bad side, and how often these worlds are built on blackmail and awful deals. The second series is currently being posted onto Netflix weekly, and each episode is about 40minutes long so it's perfect for sitting and enjoying.

Each episode is full of so many twists and turns, you can never tell how the show is going to go, and that's one of the main reasons I like it. I hate shows that are predictable but this one is far from that. One reason I don't really watch normal soaps is because they're so farfetched, which is fine but they're not really believable. This show and the families we are introduced to are already larger than life so anything that happens seems plausible haha!

I love the actress Liz Gillies, and she stars as Fallon. She is utterly fantastic, I love love love her as Fallon. As Jade on Victorious, she is feisty and talented, and the same applies too Fallon. She is a total boss lady but isn't scared to try and get better when she may be wrong. Even though she doesn't always make the right choices, she is always there for her family and that's important.

I really love this show, and highly recommend it!

Life On Mars/Ashes To Ashes

Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes are 2 TV shows that link. They both broadcast on BBC years apart. Apparently there's also an American remake but I haven't seen it and I don't want to haha!

Life on Mars follows police detective Sam Tyler (played by John Simm) who is sent back to 1973 after being hit by a car in present day. Whilst rising the ranks and getting to know his new team, he tries and tries to get home. Through the 2 series, Sam faces his family, people who he will meet in the future and DCI Gene Hunt (played by Philip Glenister) who is a complete force to be reckoned with.

We follow Sam for 2 series and they are some of my favourite tv episodes ever! The story is just so clever and goes into so much detail, I have to applaud the shows creators! It's hard hitting, it's funny, you become connected to these people, you want to fight for Sam, and you just want everyone to be happy. It's so interesting to see how different the police could treat people back in the 70s, and even though it's awful, you become so engulfed with the drama that you are on Gene Hunt's side and want him to do anything to find the truth. Out of the both of them, Life on Mars is my favourite, and I truly recommend it!

Ashes to Ashes serves as a sequel to Life on Mars, where Alex Drake (played by Keeley Hawes) is shot and sent back to the 1980s. She is placed in the same police department that Sam was and meets DCI Gene Hunt who she has been researching in present day.

These 3 series introduced me to 1 of my favourite actresses, Keeley Hawes, and how cool she is. Even though the 70s looked so cool with Sam, the 80s just tops it with Hunt's iconic "fire up the Quattro" and Alex's fantastic hair! Even though I thought this was great, one thing that I'm not keen on is how stressed Alex Drake is at all times, like she never settle's like Sam did, she's just constantly wanting to get home for 3 series straight which is completely fine but it started to annoy me a lil. You don't have to watch Ashes to Ashes, but if you are obsessed with Life on Mars as I was and still am, I recommend giving it a go to see how the universe continues and the story wraps up!

Also as you can tell by the names of these series, the music is incredible throughout!

So those are 3 of my favourite TV series that I highly recommend! Hopefully I can do a few more of these and we can all spend our lives binge watching TV and having a great time haha! What are you watching future anna?

  1. I loved Life on Mars, and always meant to get into Ashes to Ashes, but never got around to it. I'm loving some shows RN on Netflix, I'm watching Voltron: Legendary Defender which is by the same guys who did the Avatar Last Airbender show, and it's really good. Like, great messages and a really strong set of characters
